The McFarlane Scar Predator figure was released around 2004 as part of their AvP series. While it may not have been the most accurate representation of the character at the time, it has since become a sought-after collector's item. However, its lack of articulation can be frustrating for those who want to pose their predator in different ways.

That's where upgrading comes in. By making a few simple modifications, you can turn your Scar Predator figure into a highly poseable and detailed collectible. In this article, we'll walk you through the process of downloading and customizing your own Scar Predator action figure.

Upgrading Your Scar Predator Figure

The first step is to identify what needs to be modified on your figure. In the case of the McFarlane Scar Predator, some of the key areas that may need attention are the skin and netting, the 'T' symbol on his bio, the chopper blades, the gun arm, and the eye lenses.

To begin, you'll want to leave the skin and netting alone, as McFarlane did a good job with them. Instead, focus on making adjustments to the 'T' symbol on his bio by etching it in using a linoleum cutting knife. This will give it a 3D feel and texture that's more accurate to the film.

Next, you may want to remove the chopper blades and shorten the length of the gun arm to make it more movie-accurate. You can also paint the eye lenses on the bio a light grey, just like in the film.

Adding Articulation

One of the biggest drawbacks of the Scar Predator figure is its lack of articulation. However, by using parts from other action figures, you can easily upgrade your Scar Predator to have more posable joints.

In this case, we used parts from a GI Joe Heavy Duty (Roadblock) figure from the ROC series to add elbow joints and ball joints to our Scar Predator. We also swapped out the lower torso on the Scar figure for one that had an insert hole, allowing us to attach HD's upper legs and traditional metal GI crossbar.

Finally, we switched out the lower legs under the knee joint with the Scar legs, and used the HD feet at the ankle joint and Scar's feet were drilled out to fit over like a shoe. The result is a highly poseable figure that can be displayed in a variety of ways.

Upgrading your Scar Predator action figure may seem daunting, but with a few simple modifications, you can turn it into a highly detailed and poseable collectible.
